How to mask details in an Aadhaar or ID-card image
This browser tool draws solid black boxes onto a copy of the image you select and downloads a flattened PNG. It is intended for manually hiding details in a photo or screenshot before sharing it with someone who accepts a redacted image. It does not issue a government ID or an official UIDAI masked Aadhaar document.
- Select an image of the card from your device. The selected image is handled in your browser canvas, without uploading it to an ID-redaction API.
- Use a mouse or touch to draw solid black rectangles over every field you choose to hide. Inspect both sides or any separate image copies if relevant.
- Look for any other copies of sensitive information in printed text, QR codes, barcodes, machine-readable zones and document metadata. Cover or exclude those where necessary.
- Choose the download control, then open the downloaded PNG independently and verify the masking before sending it to anyone.
Important limitations
Black boxes prevent the covered pixels from being shown in the downloaded raster image, but only where you accurately place them. A QR code or another visible field may still reveal information. This manual image edit is not equivalent to a document issued by UIDAI, and organizations may reject manually redacted images or require a particular official document. Check the recipient's requirements before submitting an edited ID image.

Is the image the same as an official masked Aadhaar download?
No. This tool modifies your selected photo or screenshot; consult the official UIDAI service if you need a UIDAI-issued masked Aadhaar document.
Can I use this edited image for every KYC process?
No acceptance is guaranteed. Check with the institution or portal: it may require a full or officially issued document or a different verification method.
Can I recover the masked details from the downloaded PNG?
The output is a flattened raster copy with black pixels over the selected boxes, rather than a removable display overlay. However, your original file and any other unmasked copy remain unchanged.
Is simply covering the printed number enough?
Not necessarily. Review the full image, including QR codes and any repeated numbers or identifying details, before sharing.
